Abstract

1360843 Door handles STENMAN HOLLAND NV 23 Aug 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 39376/71 Heading A4U [Also in Division E2] A door handle assembly comprises handles 12 on a shaft 10 of square cross-section extendible through an aperture in a door and through an aperture in a follower in a latch and a recess in an edge of the door, the handles each engage a surface of a cover-plate 5 which has a sleeve portion 8 closely embracing the shaft 10. The cover-plate 5 is screwed to a door 7 and has thinner edge portions 17 adjacent slots 18 which provide resilience for the snap engagement of a decorative cover-plate 15. The cover-plate 15 may snap engage an auxiliary mounting plate 20 which is screwed to the door one arcuate end 22 of the cover-plate 15 engaging an arcuate recess 21 of the cover -plate 20. The plate 20 has slots 23 and thinner portions 24 to provide resilience for the snap fastening of an elongated decorative cover-plate thereon. The plate 20 has a slot 25 with pairs of lateral notches 26, 27, 28 for selective engagement by a pair of projections 30 or a key guide is on a bearing 29 for an "occupied" indicator. The shaft 10 passes through a latch follower 3 which has an eccentric aperture 2 for the shaft 14.
