1360799 Illuminating stoves; gas fires J F TREVOR 17 Sept 1971 [21 Oct 1970] 49936/70 Heading F4W A radiant gas-fired space heater has a baffle plate 19 of translucent or transparent material and means 22 for illuminating the radiant heating area 12. A tubular lamp 22 is arranged below the front of the radiants 12 and is shielded by baffle 19, and front casing 20, and a similar lamp 28 is arranged above the top of the radiants above a baffle 29. The baffles 19, 29 are of heat resisting glass or quartz and an air flow within the housing 20 cools the lamp 22. The baffles 19, 29 may have a reflective coating of metal so that infrared radiation from radiants 12 is screened from the lamps. The coating may be of gold, iron, nickel or cobalt, and is sufficiently thin to transmit visible light. The lamps may be coloured. The baffles 19, 29 are mounted by screws engaging elongated holes to allow for expansion, and may each be in several pieces.
