Abstract

1360632 Respiratory masks S F ROBERTS (1960) Ltd 6 Jan 1972 [20 Jan 1971] 2795/71 Heading A5T A face mask 1 is moulded from rubber or plastics material and has a chin strap 16 inside the mask with end anchorages 15 which are formed integrally with, or are integrally bonded to, face seal in the form of a resilient sealing strip 11 which is inside the edge of the face opening. The sealing strip 11 is preferably of of rubber which is bonded to the mask by vulcanisation in a mould. The strip 11 is tubular with a projecting face 14 bonded to the mask, a strip 12 of foamed plastics material or foamed rubber being enclosed in the tubular part. The thin strap may be in two portions having a connector for adjusting the length of the strap. The mask also has a window 5, an opening 6 for a supply fitting, a further opening (7), Fig. 2 (not shown) to receive a speech diaphragm, and a circular portion 9 which may be cut out to receive a microphone or other ancillary equipment.
