Abstract
1360248 Automatic central buffer coupling arm supports GERMANY MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT 3 Dec 1971 56241/71 Heading B7T [Also in Division F2] A support for absorbing vertical loading of an automatic central buffer coupling arm 2 on a rail vehicle 1 comprises a body 6 of synthetic plastics or elastomeric material, e.g. foamed plastics, a pair of coaxial support rods 7 embedded in the body 6 such that each has one end inside and one end outside the body, the two rod ends inside the body being spaced from one another and having enlarged heads 8 of generally cylindrical form, and two struts 5 within the body 6, the outside end of one rod 7 being secured in use to the underside of the arm 2 and the outside end of the other rod 7 being secured to a holder 3 which in use is secured to the vehicle 1 beneath the arm 2, whereby in use, when the arm 2 is loaded vertically downwardly, the heads 8 move toward one another and the body 6 is distorted to flex or bow the struts 5. The struts 5 may be parallel to the rods 7 as shown or may be disposed so as to diverge away from the rods in the direction towards the end of the body 6 nearest the holder 3. The holder 3 may be made of a resilient synthetic plastics or elastomeric material.
