Abstract

1360103 Shuttering for concrete walls B R STEPHENS 9 Sept 1971 42096/71 Heading E1S [Also in Division F2] Shuttering for a concrete wall comprises a panel 22 secured to a support structure made up of e.g. horizontal and vertical beams 25, 26 and 27, a toggle assembly secured to the . support structure and having engaging means e.g. a hook 86, and an anchor partially embedded in use in a previously cast portion of a wall and having means co-operable with the engaging means of the toggle assembly, which latter comprises a lever 90 pivotally coupled by links to the engaging means 86 in such a way that pivoting of the lever into the securing position shown draws the engaging means towards the support structure. As shown, the toggle is mounted on a lower part of a strongback 27 and is engaged with an anchor in the wall, and the panel 22 is thereby positioned for casting a next portion of wall, with a further anchor 55 positioned thereon for embedding in the cast concrete and secured by a further toggle assembly mounted on the support structure. After setting, the toggles will be released and the shuttering raised and the lower toggle engaged with the upper anchor. The toggles may have hydraulic or pneumatic actuating means for remote operation. The upright beams 26 supporting the panel may be pivotally connected at 41 to the strongbacks 27 for adjustment of the vertical plane of the panel by a screw 44, the lower end of the strongback having a foot 38 bearing against the wall.
