Abstract

1359953 Transfer apparatus MORGAN CONSTRUCTION CO 29 Aug 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 39994/72 Headings B8A and B8C Apparatus for transferring magnetically permeable articles between two locations at the same level and for simultaneously inverting the articles during the transfer comprises a magnet 58 mounted for pivotal movement about an axis between the two locations and means, e.g. piston and cylinder 74, 76 (Fig. 4) pivoting the magnet about the axis while vertically adjusting the position of the axis relative to the level of the two locations (by a distance 80, Fig. 4). Elevator 16 receiving the inverted articles thus remains at the required level for reception of articles transferred without inversion. The apparatus is used to form a stack of the articles, a row of articles being inverted and transferred at regular intervals (e.g. as shown, every 5th row) to stabilize the stack. The apparatus may transfer steel channels, angles and other sections produced by a rolling mill.
