Abstract

1359856 Pyridone derivatives IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 Feb 1972 [18 May 1971] 15475/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] The preparation of substituted pyridones of formula wherein Z is H or a substituent, X is Br or CONH 2 , T<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl or aryl radical and T<SP>2</SP> is an alkyl, aryl, amino, acylamino or aminocarbonyl group or T<SP>1</SP> and T<SP>2</SP> represent a chain of 3-5 C atoms, is described. In examples: (1) 5- bromo - 3 - aminocarbonyl - 1 - ethyl - 6 - hydroxy- 4-methylpyrid-2-one is obtained by bromination and hydrolysis of 3-cyano-1-ethyl-6-hydroxy-4- methyl-pyridone; (2) ethyl α-ethylacetoacetate, ethylcyanoacetate and ethylamine are reacted to yield 5 - cyano - 1,3 - diethyl - 6 - hydroxy - 4- methyl-pyrid-2-one which is hydrolysed to 5- aminocarbonyl - 1,3 - diethyl - 6 - hydroxy - 4- methyl - pyrid - 2 - one; (30) 5 - aminocarbonyl- 3,4 - dimethyl - 1 - ethyl - 6 - hydroxy - pyrid - 2- one is prepared as in (2) but using ethyl α- methylacetoacetate. Further compounds of the above formula are specified.
