Abstract
1359712 Photographic diffusion transfer POLAROID CORP 13 July 1971 [13 July 1970 (2)] 32822/71 Heading G2C A photographic film unit for the silver salt diffusion transfer process which remains integral after processing comprises a support, a photosensitive silver halide emulsion and silver precipitating nuclei on one side of the support and, on the other side of the support, an alkalireceptive layer, in particular a layer which is capable of absorbing aqueous process composition to prevent it being extruded when the film is rolled up. The receative layer may contain one or more diffusible or non-diffusible substances (e.g. an acid, anti-oxidant, Ag complexing agent or Ag bleach) to minimise deleterious effects of retained processing agents after processing. An exemplified film unit comprises a cellulose triacetate film base coated on one surface with a layer of polyvinyl alcohol containing ascorbic acid and on the other surface with in order, a layer of CuS and deacetylated chitin, and a panchromatically sensitized silver iodobromide containing algin. The emulsion or nuclei layer may contain particulate material (e.g. silicon) to increase porosity.
