Abstract

1359570 Brake shoes SEMPERIT AG 13 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 57571/72 Heading F2E A brake shoe having a pressed-on brake lining has also a damping layer arranged between the lining and the shoe in a recess in the outer surface of the shoe. As shown, a damping layer 3 is vulcanized and provided with adhesive on both sides; it is then applied to a recess 4 in the brake shoe 1 and the brake show is introduced into a mould. An appropriate quantity of brake lining mixture 2, e.g. in the form of a granulate, is then introduced into the mould, shaped by a die, and pressed directly on to the damping layer and shoe. The damping layer 3 increases the life of the brake lining and preferably is a brake lining layer which is softer than the layer 2; thus layer 3 may contain a binding agent having a lower shore hardness than the binding agent in 2, or it may consist of a mixture similar to 2 but containing more binding agent.
