1358618 Brake lining carriers KNORRBREMSE GmbH 8 Dec 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 56829/72 Heading F2E A brake lining carrier has guide means and a support surface for a brake lining and, at an end portion 2, a member 6 having a pivot 5 spaced from the guide means axis and transverse thereto for movement between one position whereby the lining can be inserted and a second position whereby the member extends across an entry to the guide means for retaining the lining; the member has a part 24 which abuts the end of the carrier in the retaining position, and an anchoring means releasably holds the member in that position by a force applied by stressed resilient means on to a portion of the member spaced from the pivot to hold the part and the carrier end in abutment. The anchoring means comprises a pivoted bolt 13 which enters a slot in a forked end 11 of the member 6. Cup spring washers 21 press a cup-shaped ring 16, with a concave surface 19, against a convex surface 18 of the member 6, the force being varied by a nut 17 held by a pin 22. A pin may be inserted in a slot 23 in the member 6 to retain the bolt 13. An abutment portion 25 of the member 6 prohibits further pivotal movement of the bolt 13. The lining is held in a dovetail guideway and is allowed some axial movement in the guideway to avoid binding therein. The carrier accepts a lining for a railway vehicle disc brake.
