Abstract
1357521 Washing ships holds or tanks DASIC EQUIPMENT Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 Feb 1970] 6347/70 Heading A4F [Also in Division F2] An assembly mounted in a ship to wash the holds or tanks comprises a washing fluid supply pipe 1 with a washing machine 1a at one end, a pivot 3 at the other end to allow the pipe and washing machine to move within the hold between operating and stowed positions A, B and means 6, 7, 44 for clamping the supply pipe in the operating position. The pivot 3 comprises a sleeve (25) Fig. 5 (not shown) to which pipe 1 is attached which swivels around a stationary pipe 24. The steel parts are separated by a fluocarbon bush (26) and L-section bronze rings (30) to reduce the risk of sparking. The supply pipe 1 is retained in its working positions by spigot 7 secured to the pipe by a collar 6 which passes through an aperture (10) Fig. 3 (not shown) in coaming 11 to be engaged by a toggle nut (43) which presses against a locating plate (41) through a neoprene ring (40) which seals the aperture. The pipe 1 is lifted from its operating to its stowed position by a winch acting on a steel wire 16. The wire is attached to a pin 14 adjacent an eye 15 in arm 13 attached to the pipe by a collar. The pipe is secured in its stowed position B by a pin (20) Fig. 7 (not shown) passing through eye 15 and two side plates 19 secured to the hatch cover. The wire 16 is clamped in this position between a fixed bar (53) Fig. 8, (not shown) and a pivoted bar (51) by means of a nut (54). Reference has been_directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1258165.
