Abstract
1357462 Resin compositions PLASTI-FIBER FORMULATIONS Inc 14 April 1972 17259/72 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions B2 and D1-D2] Bagasse fibres treated with alum, and flour produced by grinding thereof, are used as reinforcing media or fillres in mouldable plastics compositions. Example 1 describes a premix comprising a polyester derived from phthalic anhydride and ethylene glycol, benzoyl peroxide, clay, CaCO 3 , Zn stearate, pigment and said bagasse fibres. Example 2 describes a preform polyester formulation containing the above ingredients excepting the above bagasse fibres. In this case, the polyester formulation is poured on a mat of the bagasse fibres in a die and moulded. Example 3 describes a moulding composition comprising a novolac resin, hexamethylene tetramine, MgO, Ca stearate, black dye, asbestos floats, furfural, and said bagasse fibres and flour.
