Abstract

1356303 Feeding units ALPHA-BEBE SANTE 6 Sept 1971 [29 Sept 1970] 41497/71 Heading A5X A feeding unit comprises a feeding bottle 20 a teat 10 and a hood 30 for protecting the teat the teat having an inoperative position, Fig. 4a, in which a cylindrical inner face 16 of a heel 12 of the teat covers orifices in a closed mouth 21 of the bottle and an operative position, Fig. 4b, in which the orifices provide communication between the bottle and teat. The teat rests on a ledge 22 encircling the mouth of the bottle in the inoperative position and is moved to the operative position by applying pressure to the hood, the ledge then preventing the teat being pulled off during feeding. The hood 30 is sealed to the wall 27 of the bottle by adhesive 40 and after removal of the adhesive 40, the teat is forced into its operative position. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), channels (315) are provided in the uper portion of a cylindrical inner face (316) of a teat (310) and the teat (310) is moved from an inoperative position to an operative position by rotation of a hood (335) until the channels align with orifices (323) in the mouth (321) of a feeding bottle (320). In another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), a teat (210) rests on an outer flange (265) of an intermeidate piece (260) having orifices (266) in a cylindrical portion (262). The cylindrical portion (262) is slidable within the open mouth (221) of a feeding bottle (220) the orifices (266) being covered by the cylindrical wall of the mouth in the inoperative position (Fig. 6c). In each embodiment the teat may be filled with powdered milk and the feeding bottle with water so that when the teat is in the operative position they may be mixed.
