1355091 Ore flotation CHEM-Y, FABRIEK VAN CHEMISCHE PRODUKTEN NV 25 July 1972 [30 July 1971 30 Dec 1971] 36042/71 and 60755/71 Heading B2H Mineral ores are concentrated by a flotation process performed in the presence, as a collector, of an anionic surfactant compound or mixture of compounds having the formula: wherein: X is oxygen or sulphur; R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing 6-22 carbon atoms, or and alkaryl group containing 4-18 carbon atoms in the alkyl substituent(s); x is 2 or 3; m is not greater than 20 being an average value in the case of a mixture of compounds; p is 1 or 2 M is hydrogen or a mono- or divalent cation; y is 1 or 2, depending on the valency of M. Sulfidic, oxidic, salt-type or silicate ores may be concentrated. The cation M may be Na, Li, K, Mg, Zn, Cd or an amine. Numerous examples of collectors and ores are given and a number of experiments are described.
