Abstract

1354557 Railway vehicle undercarriages WEGMANN & CO 26 Aug 1971 [27 Aug 1970] 40146/71 Heading B7L A bogie is equipped with a bolster 6 carrying stop members 8, 9a and 9b on its transverse sides, these members being in rubbing engagement with checkplates 10 on the bogie frame, and two of the members (9a and 9b as shown) are movable and loaded by springs 12 so that the movable members 9a and 9b apply torques to the bolster 6 about its vertical centre axis which act in the same sense to resist oscillatory rotary motions of the bolster relative to the bogie frame. The stop members 8, 9a and 9b may be at a distance from the vertical longitudinal median plane L of the bogie which is greater than two-thirds of one half the length of the bolster 6. As shown, the movable stop members 9a and 9b are on different sides of the plane L and on different side faces of the bolster. The spring loading of members 9a and 9b is provided by helical springs 12 acting on guide members 14, which carry the members 9a and 9b and are received in bores 13 in the bolster. The bolster may support a rail vehicle body 3 through a ball and socket joint 4, 5 of which the socket 5 has a friction lining 15.
