Abstract
1354144 Dynamo-electric machines MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 25 June 1971 [26 June 1970 (2)] 29935/71 Heading H2A In a rotating electric machine including a rotor having a permanent magnet having p poles and a stator having q salient poles, each salient pole carries a coil and the coils are interconnected to form an m phase winding, where q is a multiple of m and less than p. In general, for a stator having (2n + 1) phases, the ratio of rotor poles to stator poles is (2n + 2)/(2n + 1), and for a stator having 2n phases the corresponding ratio is (n + 1)/n. The motor shown has a rotor 10 carrying a permanent magnet 11 having twenty poles and a stator 12 having fifteen poles, the coils being interconnected to form a 3 phase winding, each phase including five coils space uniformly round the stator periphery. The stator pole shoes are shaped so that the air gap is smallest at the pole centrelines. The motor may operate as a slow speed A.C. synchronous motor or as a D.C. commutatorless motor, in which case a speed dependent signal is derived from the counter e.m.f's induced in the stator windings, Fig. 2 (not shown). The motor is said to have a lower cogging force and hence to run more smoothly than prior art motors.
