Abstract

1354057 Wire fences PYE DYNAMICS Ltd and HOME DEPT SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 19 July 1972 33864/72 Heading E1B [Also in Division G4] A security fence for mounting on top of a wall incorporates strain gauges in cantilever mounting members 19 for the wires, the gauges being arranged to activate a signal if the posts or wires are tampered with. The fence comprises posts 7 mounted between brackets 5 and 6 of an anchorage 3 embedded in the concrete coping of the wall, the posts being mounted in the brackets by pivot pins 8 and held against pivotting by shear pins 7. Each cantilever member mounts two wire carrying members 22 and 23 on opposite sides of the post, and alternate wires mounted vertically of the post are mounted by said members on opposite sides of the post. Each arm of each cantilever member carries a strain gauge and the four strain gauges on each post are coupled by a potential bridge to a central alarm system so that any variation in the input caused by the wire or post being interfered with activates an alarm. The wires are mounted on the members 23 at one end by means of straining devices and at the other end are anchored on bobbins secured by shear pins. Stays 11 for the posts longitudinally of the fence are secured to the wall by cam wheels 15.
