Abstract

1354044 Projection printing LOGETRONICS Inc 3 Feb 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 5134/72 Heading 92A and 92X A radiographic original 11 having a relatively wide total image density range between 0À0 and 4À0 is printed on a reduced scale on to a dualgradient contrast characteristic record film 14 by the moving spot of light generated in a CRT 10 to produce a copy having a linearly compressed density range. The arrangement is such that any image densities in said original in the range 0 - 2À0 are recorded on the higher contrast gradient portion of the record film and any image densities in excess of 2À0 are recorded on the lower contrast gradient portion. The apparatus is provided with photo-cell detector means 16 which monitors the exposing light beam and controls the intensity of the beam or the deflection velocity on the CRT screen to produce an effect equivalent to "unsharp masking" on the record film over the density range 0 - 2À0. The CRT may be replaced by a scanning laser-beam.
