Abstract
1353914 Antiperspirants PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 30 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 35939/71 Heading A5B (Also in Division C4] An aerosol antiperspirant comprises, by weight, (A) 1-12% of a powder astringent which is an acidic metal salt insoluble in the composition (B) 0.1-1 % of a suspending agent for (A): (C) 1-15% of an emollient-carrier liquid comprising a C 12 -C 16 organic ester having a ratio of ester groups to C atoms of 0.125- 0.214 and a water solubility of 0.0005%-0.1% at 30‹C, and (D) an anhydrous liquefiable propellant gas under pressure in an amount sufficient to produce an aerosol spray. Component (A) may be A1 chlorohydroxide (preferred), Al chloride, sulphate, oxychloride or oxysulphate, Zr chloride, hydroxy- or oxychloride, Zn sulphate or sulphocarbolate, or a complex of one or more of the foregoing with an organic compound such as an amino acid (glydne) or glycol. (B) may be a hydrophobic bentonite, colloidal or sub-microscopic silica, A1 stearate, or a fatty amine or monoalkanolamide. (C) may be di-n-butyl phthalate, diethyl sebacate, ethyl ethyl carbomethyl phthalate or, preferably di-isopropyl adipate. Propellant (D) may be one or more of propane, butane, i-butane, and chlorofluoromethanes and -ethanes. Optionally the composition may contain (E) up to 0.5% by wt of an antimicrobial agent e.g. hexachlorophene, trichlorocarbanilide, trinuoromethylcanbanilide, tribromosalicylanide or 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2-hydroxy-diphenyl ether, and (F) up to 0.8% by wt. perfume.
