Abstract
1352784 Magnetic separation, tube mills BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [28 March 1970] 25418/71 Headings B2A and B2J In a process for the separation of magnetisable particles from a material in the course of size reduction during a grinding operation. after grinding, the material is separated into fine material and gravel by, say, centrifugal air separation and following separation of the magnetisable particles from the gravel by a magnetic separator the gravel-like material is returned to the grinding step. As shown, material such as titanium slag or mixed magnetic and non-magnetic ores is fed from a hopper 1 to a grinding mill 4 which is charged with balls of different diameters. Size reduced material from the mill is blown with preferably hot air to a separator 5 where the gravel constituent is separated out and fed to a magnetic separator comprising a rotating magnetically induced drum 8 and a brush 9. The magnetisable material is delivered to a container 11 whereas the non-magnetic gravel is returned by a return screw 12 to the mill 4. The fine material which passes through the separator 5 is separated from the carrier air in a cyclone separator 14 and fed to a conveyor screw 15 for delivery at 16.
