1352428 Load handling device for use in lining rotary mills PROGRAMMED & REMOTE SYSTEMS CORP 25 Aug 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 39926/71 Heading B8H A handling device for use in lining rotary mills 10 comprises a trolley 23 which is movable along a track 14 placed along the axis of the mill and which supports a slewable and luffable telescopic boom 35 provided at its outer end with a pivotable support for liner sections 11. The boom is luffed about a pivot pin 51 and extended by means of hydraulic rams 52, 63, respectively, the pin 51 being mounted between brackets 48 which are rotatable about a vertical axis on the trolley frame by means of a rotary hydraulic motor 42. The outer end of the boom is provided with brackets 62 supporting a rotary hydraulic motor 67 having an output shaft 70 on which is mounted a pivot pin 75 supporting plates 76. An hydraulic ram 80 is pivoted at 81 to the plates 76 and is connected to a chain 83 provided with a hook 86 and passing over a pulley 84. To support a liner section 11, the hook 86 is engaged with an eye-bolt 95 secured to the section 11 and the ram 80 is retracted to draw the section 11 into engagement with plates 88 which are pivotally mounted on the pulley axis 85. Further retraction of the ram causes the element 11 and plates 88 to pivot from the broken-line position to the full-line position, Fig. 5. The trolley 23 is propelled along the track, which consists of a pair of I-section rails, by a cable passing around an idler pulley 31 and a pulley 28 driven by an hydraulic motor. All movements of the trolley and of the boom assembly are controlled from a portable control panel 125.
