Abstract

1352462 Re-forming articles BUTLERS Ltd 19 Jan 1973 [12 Feb 1972] 6679/72 Heading B5A A plastics article, e.g. an A.B.S. stud or apertured boss, is reformed by inductively heating a forming tool 9, moving the tool into contact with the article to re-form it, and cooling the tool before withdrawing it from the reformed article. Tools 9 are mounted on a plate 5 moved up and down by pneumatic ram 6 and are guided by holes in fixed plate 7. Induction coils 8 heat the tips of the tools when they are retracted, and cooling water is circulated through the tools either continuously or only when the tools contact the article, air being blown through to dry the tools during heating.
