Abstract

1351977 Detergent slurries containing alpha olefine sulphonates JEFFERSON CHEMICAL CO Inc 26 Nov 1971 [17 Dec 1970 29 April 1971] 54983/71 Heading C5D A detergent slurry composition comprises 50 to 70% by wt. of solids (balance being water) which solids comprise 5-45% by wt. of organic surfactant and 95 to 55% by wt. of detergent builder and, if desired, detergent auxiliary, the organic surfactant comprising 25 to 75% wt. of sulphonated alpha olefins containing 12 to 24 carbon atoms per mol. and 75 to 25% wt. of sulphonated vinylidene olefins containing 12 to 20 carbon atoms per molecule. The sulphonated vinylidene olefins have the property of reducing the viscosity of a detergent slurry containing alpha olefine sulphonates. Soap and other anionic, nonionic and ampholytic surfactants may be present. The builders may be inorganic, e.g. polyphosphates and silicates; or organic, e.g. nitrilotriacetates, polyacrylates, polyphosphonates, phytates, citrates, disodium oxydiacetate and mixtures thereof. Detergent auxiliaries may be (a) inorganic salts, e.g. sodium sulphate, (b) hydrotropes, e.g. sodium benzene sulphonate, (c) anti-redeposition agents, e.g. sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, (d) foam stabilizers, e.g. alkanolamides and (e) others.
