Abstract
1351871 Waveguides BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CABLES Ltd 2 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 3706/71 Heading H1W A mode filter for use with circular waveguides comprises an inner tubular layer of insulating material (omitted from Fig. 3) on the exterior of which are either a plurality of spaced, continuous, conductive circumferential rings 13 or at least one helix of conductive material. A reinforcing insulating layer 11 covers the rings or helix with the possible intervention of a lossy layer, and the insulating layer may be protected by a thin steel jacket or a braided wire sleeve. Sockets 18 at the ends of the filter permit direct connection of circular waveguides, but separate couplings may be used. Methods of building up the filter on a cylindrical mandrel are described and claimed.
