Abstract

1351272 Recovering metals from solution W C HERAEUS GmbH 20 April 1971 [2 May 1970] 10268/71 Heading C1A Metal ions and ions containing metals from Groups 1b, Va, VIa, or VIII of the Periodic Table are recovered from their aqueous solution by passing the solution through a carrier material comprising cellulose which has been impregnated with polyethylene imine and is substantially free from unbound polyethylene imine which is removable by washing with water, and subsequently eluting said carrier material with a reagent which displaces the absorbed metal ions from the impregnated carrier material. The solution may also contain ions of metals other than those from the group specified, and the cellulose may be natural cellulose free from lignin, or cellulose regenerated from viscose or cuprammonium rayon. Examples illustrate the recovery from aqueous solution of copper, palladium, vanadium (as vanadate), molybdenum (as molybdate), and of tungsten (as tungstate) and molybdenum (as molybdate) from a solution containing both.
