Abstract
1350601 Matrix displays MARCONI CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [25 June 1970] 30829/70 Heading G5C In a display device comprising liquid crystal material 27 in cavities in a layer of insulating material 26 between two sheets 22, 28 bleeding means communicating with the cavities are provided enabling vacuum suction means to be connected whereby the cavities are completely filled. A display panel comprises a ceramic or glass substrate 22, a plurality of electrodes 25 formed by etching an Al layer 24, contact pins 23, an insulating layer 26 of SiO 2 with etched bleed channels and cavities containing liquid crystal material 27 and a glass cover 28 carrying a transparent electrode 29. The electrodes 25 and cavities form segments of a figure 8. Alternatively the electrodes comprise crossed arrays with cavities at each intersection. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,303,947.
