Abstract

1350684 Movable magnet switches HATHAWAY INSTRUMENTS Inc 26 April 1971 [19 Nov 1970 15 Jan 1971] 11310/71 Heading H1N A push-button switch has a magnetic reed contact unit 18 operable on rotation of a magnet 26 mounted in a plastics holder 27 arranged to pivot about its pin 28 which extends through a slot 30 in a rectilinearly movable slide 25 into a pivot hole 31 in a housing part 17; the slide 25 also having a further slot 37 which receives an eccentric pin 36 extending from the holder 27 so as to rotate when the slide is moved against the bias of a spring 39. The slide is movable by a push-button 11 coupled thereto by a connector 32. Figs. 13 and 15 show the contact unit 135 mounted in a block 111 which has a cylindrical recess 117 within which a magnet rotor 112 is movable by its pin 118 as a slide 113 is moved, against the bias of a spring 121. The switch housing 110 may also contain an indicator light socket 153 arranged so that the light is visible through a transparent push-button 115 and a settled diode 156. Lugs 164 on the housing may fit into recesses 165 in adjacent push-button switch units of a keyboard with offset barriers and spacers (Figs. 30 to 33, not shown).
