Abstract

1350423 Spray carburetters G S ELDRIDGE 29 June 1971 [16 Oct 1970] 30325/71 Heading F1B During deceleration of an I. C. engine, the attendant high vacuum produced downstream of the carburetter throttle valve 56, Fig. 1, causes closure of a diaphragm-actuated switch 100 and consequent energization of solenoid 120 which, in turn, opens a valve 126 to break the vacuum in fuel flow line 122 and thereby stop fuel flow therethrough to the carburetter. The switch may be incorporated in a vacuum gauge, Fig. 2 (not shown), mountable on the dashboard of a motor vehicle and provided with a knob (154) for adjusting the value of the vacuum to which the switch responds.
