Abstract

1350321 Drilling pipes E HAWLE 24 Feb 1972 [23 March 1971 23 Dec 1971] 8495/72 Heading B3C [Also in Division F2] A pipe drill clamp adaptable for different sizes of main pipe comprises a saddle member having a plane underface 2 sealed by a planoconcave gasket 3, and clamped by bolts 15, which swivel, with bearing members 9, into alignment with the direction of tension in band 7. The length of band 7 is adjustable by winding it around trunnions 17, projecting from nuts 16. The gasket 3 may have annular ribs (4, Fig. 3, not shown) engaging grooves (5) in surface 2 and in the pipe wall. After drilling, a branch pipe is screwed into bore 14.
