1350381 Regulating I C engine fuel supply JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 7 July 1971 [22 July 1970] 35416/70 Heading F1B A shuttle-type metering device 14 for supplying fuel to injectors 16 is supplied with fuel from a reservoir 10 by a pump 11 and fuel is spilled to the reservoir by valves 23 and 31 in parallel. The pressure relief valve 23 operates in response to an increase in pump delivery pressure and the valve 31 is operated by an electromagnet 32. The switch 38 is closed when a predetermined intake manifold depression is exceeded and the switch 37 is closed when the engine throttle valve is substantially closed, closure of both switches energizing the electromagnet 32. The stroke of the shuttle in the device 14 is variable in response to intake manifold depression.
