Abstract

1350380 Joint-making packing CORRUGATED PACKING & SHEET METAL CO and T P NICHOLSON 2 Aug 1971 [17 July 1970 2 Aug 1971] 34653/70 Heading F2B A sealing ring 10 of channel-shaped radial cross-section has a backing ring 14 which is secured to the sealing ring centrally of the axial ends thereof but does not extend to the free edge sealing portions 12 of the ring 10. The backing ring 14 is secured to the ring 10 by brazing or welding and a further backing ring 16 is secured to the ring 14 by brazing or welding. The portions 12 may be urged apart by an annular spring (18, Fig. 2). In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the backing ring (20) is secured to the inside of the ring (10).
