Abstract
1349983 Shelving C V HAWKES 2 Nov 1971 [20 Jan 1971] 2762/71 Heading A4B [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A shelving system or like structure comprises a shelf supporting member, a shelf member having therein a tapered hole through which the shelf supporting member passes to produce a tapered passage between the two members a split bush 1 having a cylindrical inner surface and a frusto conical outer surface whereby it is compressible in the passage to secure the members together. The bush may be made of plastics and the inner surface may be ridged or otherwise roughened or coated with pressure sensitive adhesive or with material to increase its roughness such as ground glass dispersed in adhesive. The edges of the bush is bevelled. During assembly the bush may be tapped into frictional engagement with the members or the bush may be temporarily held stationary on one member by a spring clip while the other member is being positioned thereon. A shelving board 8 may be secured to a plurality of tubes 6 by the bushes.
