Abstract
1349732 Drying compressed gases ATLAS COPCO A B 25 July 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 34669/72 Heading F1N A method of drying gas compressed by a compressor 1, 33 comprises conducting a main current of compressed gas to an after-cooler 6 via passage 4, 5 and then to an ejector 8 and the drying zone 14 of a sorption-drying apparatus 9. A branch current of compressed unsaturated hot gas is supplied via conduit 21 to a regenerative zone 13 of apparatus 9 in which said branch current gas takes up moisture absorbed from the main current gas, thus restoring the drying properties of the apparatus. The drying member of apparatus 9 is a rotor 10 and portions thereof alternately pass through the drying and regenerative zones 10, 13. The rotor is formed by folded asbestos sheeting impregnated with lithium chloride and reinforced by metal wire. After performing its regenerative function the branch gas is passed through a return conduit 23 with cooler 24 to the suction side of ejector 8 and from there joins the main current to the drying zone 14. The dried gas is discharged through conduit 20.
