1349728 2,4 - Dicyano - 3,5 - dimethylaniline BAYER AG 24 May 1972 [25 May 1971 21 Dec 1971] 57715/72 Divided out of 1349727 Heading C2C 2,4 - Dicyano - 3,5 - dimethylaniline is prepared when the dimerization product of 3-methylene-glutaric acid dinitrile or 3-methylglutaconic dinitrile of the formula C 12 H 12 N 4 is thermally decomposed. The C 12 H 12 N 4 may be warmed in a sublimation apparatus, in a vacuum of 0À01 to 50 mm. of Hg at a temperature of 150‹ to 250‹ C. and the 2,4-dicyano-3,5-dimethylaniline collected from the relatively cold areas of the apparatus. The 2,4-dicyano-3,5- dimethylaniline is claimed per se.
