Abstract
1349116 Air conditioning; air heaters QUEPOR SA 22 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 13289/72 Headings F4V and F4S Air to be sterilized is passed by a blower 1 through a filter 2 into a heat exchanger 3 and into an air heater 4 where the air is sterilized. The sterilized air then passes back through the heat exchanger 3 and through a cooler 6 before being utilized. The heater 4 is heated by electrical resistive elements 5, and situated in the heater between the elements 5 and the air outlet of the heater, is a filter 19 of sinterized steel which is heated to the sterilization temperature. The heater 4 comprises a cylindrical shell 14 having an outlet 16 in the side wall. An inlet 15 is provided in a plate 17 which closes the bottom of the cylinder, while the heating elements are supported by a plate 18 closing the top. The resistors are arranged in a first group 51 surrounding the inlet 15 and a peripheral group 5<SP>11</SP> which are surrounded by the filter 19. The incoming air flows axially through resistors 5<SP>1</SP>, and is then forced to flow radially through the resistors 5<SP>11</SP> and the filter 19 to the outlet 16. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the groups of resistors are separated by a metal cylinder, and the filter is arranged in a second cylindrical shell. In this embodiment the air passes axially through both groups of resistors, into the second cylindrical shell, through the filter to the outlet.
