Abstract

1349000 Upward current classifier; beater mills CONDUX-WERK HERBERT A MERGES KG 8 July 1971 [8 July 1970] 32139/71 Headings B2A and B2H The lighter or lightest component of a material consisting of two or more components of differing weight is separated from the rest of the material by comminuting and screening the material and allowing the screened material to fall directly through a separating zone in countercurrent to an air stream which carries away the lighter or lightest component. The process may be applied to the separation of the constituents of remnants of floor coverings composed of synthetic material coated with fibrous material, e.g. jute. The process may be carried out in an impeller breaker comprising a housing 2 in which is horizontally mounted a rotor 3 having cutting blades 5 which cooperate with fixed blades 4 carried by a swingable top portion of the housing. The material is fed through an inlet 6 and after comminution passes through a screen 8 and falls through a separation zone in the housing in countercurrent to a stream of air. The latter is produced by air sucked through orifices 7 and a lateral opening 10 by a blower 12. A discharge screw 9 removes the heavier component(s).
