Abstract

1348373 Lighting fittings G BARCLAY 24 June 1971 [25 March 1970] 14459/70 Heading F4R A lighting fitting adapted to emit light of varying colour comprises a casing 16 having an elongate aperture 18, a light source 14 disposed within the casing, a transparent or translucent sleeve 10 formed from a plurality of differently coloured longitudinal strips 12 rotatably mounted on its longitudinal axis about the source and projecting partly through the aperture 18, and a pair of reflectors 24 which taper outwardly from the aperture to the longitudinal edges of the casing. The casing is closed by a diffuser 26. The source is preferably a fluorescent tube, and a semi-cylindrical reflector may be mounted above the tube to reflect light towards the aperture. The sleeve is driven by an electric motor 22 through friction rollers 20 or toothed gears, the preferred speed of rotation being such as to produce a colour change every ten minutes. The fitting is intended to be attached to the ceiling of a room.
