1348291 Aralkyl compounds ELI LILLY & CO 29 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969 20 Nov 1970] 35437/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Novel compounds of the formula Ar-R wherein when Ar represents 3-phenoxyphenyl, 4-phenylthiophenyl, 4-cyclohexylphenyl, 4-isobutylphenyl, 4 - cyclohexyl - 3 - chlorophenyl, 4 - phenoxy - 3 - methylphenyl, 4 - phenoxy- 3 - methoxyphenyl or 4<SP>1</SP> - fluorobiphenylyl, R is iso - propenyl; and when R represents isopropyl, Ar is 4<SP>1</SP> - fluorobiphenylyl, 3 - methoxy - 4 - phenoxyphenyl, 4 - (1 - cyclooctenyl)- phenyl, 4 - cyclooctylphenyl or 4 - (2 - norbomyl)phenyl; and when R is iso-butyl, Ar is 4-phenoxyphenyl, may be obtained by one or more of the following reaction sequences. The products are anti-inflammatory agents.
