Abstract
1346943 Forming catalyst by flame or plasma-spraying; coatings BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK AG 24 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 16609/71 Headings B1E and B2E [Also in Division C2] A shell-type supported catalyst composition comprising a support and a layer of vanadium pentoxide or molybdenum oxide and/or tungsten oxide applied thereto, is produced by plasma-spraying or flame spraying the support with the oxides or compounds which decompose thereto under the conditions of application. Specified supports are alumina, silica, clay, kaolin, steatite, pumice, aluminosilicate, magnesium silicate, silicon carbide, zirconia and thoria. The catalysts suitably contain 0.1 to 50% wt of the coating oxides. In the Examples: (i) silicon carbide is coated with vanadium pentoxide by flame-spraying; and (ii) steatite is coated with molybdenum trioxide, tungsten oxide and tellurium oxide by plasma-spraying.
