Abstract
1346889 Nitroanthraquinone BAYER AG 22 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 59384/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] 1-Nitroanthraquine is prepared by nitration of anthraquinone with nitric acid or its salts in sulphuric acid, in which the nitration mixture, after nitration, is adjusted to a sulphuric acid concentration of from 96% sulphuric acid to 3% oleum and, following the removal in a first separation of products insoluble therein, the nitration mixture is adjusted to a sulphuric acid content of 82 to 88% and the 1-nitroanthraquinone which thereupon separates out is isolated.
