Abstract
1346770 Spectrographic standard DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 15 Nov 1971 [13 Aug 1970] 39048/70 Heading B1X [Also in Division C2] A solution of a metal salt of a saturated higher aliphatic acid having between 6 and 12 carbon atoms (e.g. capric acid (n-decanoic acid) in at least sufficient napthenic acid to effect solubilisation of the metal salt in a solvent medium is used as a spectrographic standard for use in determining trace elements in petroleum products. The salts may be salts of barium, cadmium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lanthanum, lead, magnesium, manganese, nickel, silver, strontium, zinc, mercury or a rare earth metal. The solution may also contain an inert liquid (e.g. xylene or white spirit). The solvent medium may be an ester, a ketone or a hydrocarbon.
