Abstract

1346342 Dolls TOMY KOGYO CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [30 March 1970] 25510/71 Heading A6S A pneumatically operated walking doll, as shown, comprises a head, a torso which is swingable, an operating framework pivotally mounted within the torso and swingable with the torso, and a pair of legs attached to the framework which can be alternately swung forward. In operation, an air pump (22), (Fig. 1, not shown), is compressed and air is supplied to a servo 15 via a passage 15a. The pressure due to the servo 15 acts upon a support member 16 to tilt the torso 1 about a pivot 11 in the direction of an arrow P, against a tension spring 17. The weight of the torso is borne by the right leg, and the left side of the torso is raised, causing an arm 9 secured to the leg via a bearing 5 to turn upward about a horizontal shaft 6 as pivot; thus the foot 3' of the left leg is swung forward. As the air pump is released, the air supplied to the servo 15 is released, and the torso 1 is then tilted back leftward by the action of the spring 17, and the left foot 3' touches the floor and moves a step forward. The right leg, in the same manner as the left leg, is then caused to swing forward. The doll therefore moves forward as the air pump is repeatedly squeezed and released. Accessories, such as a balloon or flutes can be detachably attached to the doll's mouth, or a small toy dog can be attached to a hand via a flexible pipe, both these accessories being worked by separate pneumatic systems from that operating the doll.
