Abstract
1345915 Copper based alloys OLIN CORP 19 April 1971 [13 April 1970] 23624/71 Heading C7A A high conductivity high strength Cu base alloy contains in wt per cent:- 0À2-4À0% Fe 0À2-2À5% Co 0À01-0À5% P 0À1-1À0% Sn and/or 0À1-1À0% Mg the balance being essentially Cu and the Fe + Co content being from 1-5%. Ingots of the alloy after casting are either hot rolled at a temperature between 700 and 1000‹C., preferably being held for at least 30 minutes at this temperature, or heat-treated at a temperature in this range. Afte: this, as described, cooling to room temperature takes place at any desired rate owing to the alloy's insensitivity to cooling rates, followed by cold rolling to a reduction up to 96% in one or more passes. According to the invention, the alloy is, after the hot rolling or heat treatment, thermally aged at 250-575‹C for between 1 hour and 50 hours this ageing possibly also serving as interanneal or final anneal when cold rolling is used. Strip or batch annealing techniques may be used.
