Abstract

1345442 Atmospheric burners IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd 14 June 1972 [5 May 1971] 13188/71 Heading F4T [Also in Division F1] A gas fired water heater comprises a centrifugal fan rotor 5 eccentrically mounted in a housing 2 having outlet channels 10, 11 which are respectively radially outer and inner relative to fan axis 6 so as to direct two streams of air at higher and lower pressures to chambers 16, 17 of the burner unit 15. Chamber 16 contains a gas injector 18 which directs gas into the inlet 19 of a gas/air mixing tube 20 extending through partition 23 into chamber 17 and connected to an atmospheric gas burner 21 having outlets 22. Mixture emitted by the latter entrains further air from channel 11 before discharging to atmosphere through a flue. As shown fan outlet channels 10, 11 are defined by a divider 12 in duct 9, but in a modification they may be defined by separate circumferentially spaced outlet ducts. Alternatively an additional divider may be provided to define a third intermediate pressure outlet channel directing dilution air to the burner flue.
