Abstract

1345399 Tubular heat exchangers SOC ANON FRANCAISE FERODO 7 June 1971 [8 June 1970] 19246/71 Heading F4S A heat exchanger comprises a stack of fins 10 through which tubes (not shown) extend between tube plates 11, 12, the tube plates being secured by the folding-over of marginal lugs 15 to the flanges 16 of header chambers 13, 14 (see Fig. 4), the plan profile of the fin stack being at least coextensive with the plan profile of the header flange 16, and the individual fins of the stack at least in the vicinity of the headers having notches formed therein. These may as shown have rounded ends. e.g. 29, 30. Alternatively the notches may be trapezoidal in shape (Fig. 3). The notches are to enable the insertion of anvils 31 used to provide support under the tube plates and header flanges whilst the lugs 15 are being folded over said flanges.
