Abstract

1345299 Hatch covers EQUITABLE EQUIPMENT CO Inc 7 April 1972 [2 March 1972] 16194/72 Heading B7S A hatch cover comprises a plurality of separate disconnected rectangular panels installable side-by-side to cover a rectangular hatchway 20 surrounded by a flange 24, the panels being successively installable from and successively removable toward a first installable panel 1. Pins 38 on the first panel fix the panel against horizontal movement in a predetermined position relative to the hatchway and pins 76 with notches 74 interengageable on the successive installation or the remainder of the panels fix each of the remaining panels with respect to the precedingly installed adjacent panel. Seals 34 and 82, Figs, 13, 14 (not shown) provide a watertight seal along the entire periphery of the hatchway and seals 54, Fig. 1 (not shown), carried on the sides of some of the panels provide a watertight seal between the panels. In the embodiment shown the first panel is installed intermediate the ends of the hatchway but an end panel may be the first one to be installed instead.
