Abstract

1345003 Variable pitch propellers A FEROY 13 July 1971 [21 Sept 1970] 32879/71 Heading B7V A variable pitch propeller of the kind in which the pitch of the blades (15) is adjusted by a piston 25 and a cylinder 23 which are movable in opposite directions and which are each connected through pairs of crossheads 17, 18 to pairs of crank pins 16, each pair of pins being operatively engaged with the root (14) of one of the blades to pivot it in the hub (10); is characterized by the provision of self aligning connections A, B between the piston, the cylinder and their associated crossheads to equalize the loading on the crank pins. Rod 26 has a head 28 (Fig. 9) provided with spherical surfaces which mate with surfaces 30, 31 on the piston 25 or cylinder 23, and a retaining washer 36. The Specification describes in detail the application of the imvention to three, four and five bladed propellers.
