Abstract

1343984 Sliding seats C ROB HAMMERSTEIN GmbH 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970j 23183/71 Heading A4J A sliding mounting, particularly for vehicle seats, comprises an essentially C-shaped outer rail in which slides an inner rail with limbs extending close to the base of the outer rail, and locking means comprising a toothed member slidable transversely of the outer rail to engage a series of teeth on the inner rail. In the form shown in cross-section, the outer rail 1 is fixed to a beaming member 40 by which it is mounted on the vehicle floor and the inner rail 2 is shaped as shown to fit within the outer rail. The lower left hand flange of the inner rail has a toothed edge for engagement by a toothed member 22 carried by a plate 25 which is slidable transversely between the base of the outer rail and a cranked portion 26 of the web of the member 40. The member 22 is pressed to the locking position by a spring 27, and is withdrawn by a link 35 connecting it to the slide 25 of a corresponding arrangement in a parallel sliding mounting at the other side of the seat, this slide being actuated by a lever carried by the member 40 of the second mounting. Movement of the inner rails 2 is limited by a bolt 45 on the base of each outer rail 1 coming into contact with pressed-out portions of the base of the inner rail. The seat is attached to the inner rail by studs 41.
