Abstract

1343814 Electro-plating jig VANDERVELL PRODUCTS Ltd 17 April 1972 [20 April 1971 29 April 1971 9 Aug 1971] 10252/71 12094/71 and 37314/71 Heading C7B A plating box, for holding a stack of semicylindrical bearing liners in an electrolyte during electro-plating, is formed from an insulating material and has a removable wall 20 formed with an elongate slot 31 to admit plating ions tnerethrough. In use, the bearing liners are located in the box so that they extend in the direction of the slot length and are engaged by the removable wall at their parting line faces to either side of the slot, means being provided to press the removable wall inwardly of the box. In the apparatus as illustrated, the liners (not shown) would be placed with their convex surfaces against parallel rods 14 and would be clamped end to end by means of a plunger 17 spring- loaded at 19. The removable wall 20 would be pressed downwardly by the action of a presser member 22 spring-loaded at 34. The presser member 22 and plunger 17 are mechanically inter-connected by pins 27 and 28. During electro-plating, the stack of liners would be electrically connected through the plunger 17. A conducting rod 35 behind the stack would act as a thief and so prevent plating on the backs of the liners. In a modified embodiment, the apparatus is such that two stacks of liners can be mounted side by side within a single box having a removable wall with two parallel slots therein.
