1343880 Electric hot plates BRITISH DOMESTIC APPLIANCES Ltd 19 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970] 5111/70 Heading H5H [Also in Division F4] An electric hot plate has a glass ceramic heating panel 2 with resistance heating elements 5 located beneath it and in series with a half wave rectifier 11. In Fig. 4, the resistance is a resistive tape 6 wound on a mica former 5a, the lower surface of panel 2 being provided with a coating of insulating material, e.g. alumina. The rectifier, e.g. diode or a controlled rectifier, may have a fast acting fuse 12 in series with it. In alternative arrangements the resistance element may be in the form of a printed circuit, a stamping, a sprayed surface on insulation or may be formed on the lower surface of the glass ceramic panel either directly or on top of an insulating layer.
